Who buys packaging in Sandton
Sandton is a financial and retail centre, so its packaging buyers are mostly retailers, online brands, restaurants and service businesses rather than heavy industry. Shops and boutiques in the malls and surrounding suburbs buy paper bags, gift boxes and tissue, while restaurants, coffee shops and food vendors need takeaway containers and food-safe packaging. Beauty and wellness brands, along with small e-commerce sellers working from offices and homes, buy mailer boxes, bubble wrap and courier bags in modest quantities. Industrial supply comes from nearby areas such as Wynberg and Midrand, so most orders are delivered to the northern suburbs. Printed and premium packaging is popular here, and it usually needs a few weeks.
Typical shrink wrap requests in the area come from:
- Shops and retail stores: wrapping display packs, cards and boxed stock for shelves and counters
- Online shops and ecommerce: sealing books, games and boxed gifts so they arrive clean and tamper-evident
- Restaurants, takeaways and food producers: bundling bottled drinks and wrapping cheese, tinned goods and dry goods in food-safe film
- Cosmetics, candles and health products: tamper-evident bands on jars and tubs, and film around gift sets of soap and candles
- Warehouses, distributors and exporters: PE film hoods and heavy sheets over outdoor pallets and building materials
- Factories and manufacturers: covering parts and bundling product multipacks on a small packing line
