Who buys packaging in Stellenbosch
Stellenbosch is a wine and fruit town with a university, research institutes and a growing technology and food sector. Wine estates need bottles, closures, cartons and pallet wrap for local and export shipments, while fruit farms and packhouses use cartons, trays and liners. Craft food, olive oil, jam and beverage makers buy jars, tubs, bags and gift boxes, and tourist shops around the town sell them. Industrial areas in Stellenbosch, Klapmuts and Somerset West hold manufacturers and distributors, and most packaging suppliers deliver from there or from Cape Town and Bellville. Summer heat is strong and the harvest season is busy, so order early for peak weeks.
Typical shrink wrap requests in the area come from:
- Restaurants, takeaways and food producers: bundling bottled drinks and wrapping cheese, tinned goods and dry goods in food-safe film
- Farms, packhouses and nurseries: sleeving jars and bottles of sauce, honey and juice sold at farm stalls
- Shops and retail stores: wrapping display packs, cards and boxed stock for shelves and counters
- Factories and manufacturers: covering parts and bundling product multipacks on a small packing line
- Online shops and ecommerce: sealing books, games and boxed gifts so they arrive clean and tamper-evident
- Warehouses, distributors and exporters: PE film hoods and heavy sheets over outdoor pallets and building materials
- Cosmetics, candles and health products: tamper-evident bands on jars and tubs, and film around gift sets of soap and candles
